To upgrade to the new software version, you must have a desktop or laptop computer with Hyper Terminal loaded (Hyper Terminal is a software bundled with your Windows operating system located in the PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/COOMUNICATION folder). You will also need a serial to serial connector (DB9 Male/Female serial connector).

1. On Windows 95 or Windows 98, GOTO Start, SELECT Programs, SELECT Accessories, SELECT Communications, Double Click on "Hyper Terminal" to OPEN Hyper Terminal.

2. Enter SAMSUNG for the Name and SELECT "OK."

3. Under Connect using: SELECT the appropriate COM port (usually COM1 for laptops or COM2 for most desktops) and then SELECT "OK." (The com port number should match the port your serial connector is connected to on your computer)

4. In the Port Settings please enter values as follows:
a. Bits per second: 115200
b. Data Bits: 8
c. Parity: None
d. Stop bits: 1
e. Flow control: None
f. SELECT "OK."

5. Save all settings for future use.

6. Connect serial cables from the computer to the DSR-37/3800's DATA PORT.

7. ***Important**** You need to perform a special boot-up on the DSR-37/3800 before upgrading the software. Depress the Volume+ button on the DSR-37/3800 while plugging in the AC POWER. If done correctly, the hyper terminal screen should read:

8. Now you need to transfer the new software. GOTO Transfer on the Menu bar. SELECT Send File.

9. File name: locate the path to binary file. (File name is "7F" for units with the loop connector and "7NF" for units without the loop connector)

10. Protocol: 1K Xmodem

11. SELECT Send.

12. After the transfer is complete, the software will automatically load itself. Do not unplug the unit until the software if fully loaded. At the completetion of the process you will see "Press ESC to ………". Once you see the above statement, the software is completely loaded.

13. Connect the receiver to your TV and the Satellite Dish.

14. Turn power on.

15. Press Menu on remote

16. Press #6 on remote

17. Press #4 on remote

18. Press #0 on remote 4 times

19. After factory default loading is complete, press Clear on remote

20. Press #1 on remote

21. Press right arrow on remote 2 times

22. Press down arrow on remote 2 times

23. Press Select on remote 2 times

24. Your channels should be scanning.

25. After the scanning process is finished, press clear on remote 2 times.

26. You are now finished.
